About Us
Changing Ways
Our Vision
A respectful, supportive, violence-free community where people are safe and secure.
Our Mission
Working in collaboration and partnership with others, we seek to reduce the occurrence and impact of violence in our community.
We believe that:
It is natural for persons to have a range of differing opinions. Such variations of opinions, while essential in defining the uniqueness of individuals, can lead to conflict. Conflict is a normal characteristic of our human existence.
Violent behaviour is tragic and unacceptable. Violence is a reaction that ignores natural fairness, causes physical and mental damage, destroys relationships, and corrodes families and communities. Negative behaviours are a consequence of inappropriate values and attitudes.
Many people remain largely unaware of the frequency with which family violence occurs across all socio-economic levels in communities large and small, and of its destructive impact on individuals, families and communities. Neither are they aware that violent behaviour can be effectively controlled and modified.
The behaviour of adults influences the behaviour of children. If violent behaviours are not modified, such behaviours will reoccur and escalate in future generations.
Effective measures can and should be taken to treat persons with violent behaviour. There is a denial by many who live in an environment of violence that such behaviour is inappropriate.
Wherever it exists, the cycle of family violence must be broken.
Every individual has the right to live free from violence.

We intentionally seek a connection with community groups to:
find overlaps
discover gaps

Changing Ways coordinates the Camrose Family Violence Response Council and is involved in various local initiatives; Changing Ways staff are happy to meet with agencies and community groups to discuss family violence, including appropriate intervention and prevention.
The Family Violence Response Council also creates the Camrose Community Approach to Family Violence document.
